Girl on the Go

Hey lovelies! If you are still here, despite the dust bunnies rolling around Sare in the City, thank you for staying tuned!  I have a ton to update you on!  First off, school has been just crazy.  7 classes in one semester, I don’t recommend it.  But I’m getting through and learning  a lot.  Secondly, for awhile there I had a lack of creative juices flowing.  I bought about 10 magazines, watched a bunch of old films and luckily they saved me and got my creative self back up to par.  Sidenote…I recently did the art direction and photography for a photoshoot and I can’t wait to show you guys the images…they are insane!  Everything from the model to scenery to wardrobe and the overall whole team…everyone just rocked it!  Lastly, I have been using a lot of my spare time to work on my fitness.  Working out has been such a great outlet for me although sometimes I get carried away when my 1 hour work out exceeds 2 hours.  Oh well, you know I am doing something good for my health and wellbeing.  Anyways, that pretty much sums up my life over the past month.  You are all caught up.

Today’s outfit is simply a few of my current go to pieces.  A combination of comfort and style is key for a busy city girl on the go.  That’s why I find it key to have a few great statement pieces such as this coat/sweater/whatever it is that I recently picked up from H&M.  I seriously throw it on over anything.  And although at a glance it slightly looks like a housecoat…I still think it’s just great.

Thanks for stopping by!

Fallin' for the City

I am SO happy to be back in Toronto!  Every time I come back to this beautiful city I fall in love with it all over again.  Ever since I've been back in the city I have constantly been on the go--decorating my new place, starting up classes again & of course adventuring the city with friends.  It's safe to say I am loving life and this new season.  With the Fall season comes lots of layers which is a lot of fun for creative types like myself--it allows me to mix textures/prints together, a favourite thing of mine.
Abby and I always have so much fun shooting together...the pic below pretty much sums up what half the time we are shooting looks like! Make sure to check out her fabulous blog for some pics I shot of her in this edgy/pretty dirty back alley.

Back to School

Hey Lovelies!  Well it’s that time of year again—back to school.  I have had a few amazing months spending time in my home province of Saskatchewan (as well as a few other spontaneous adventures across the country).  I made some AMAZING new friends, enjoyed the company of old friends, found a new love for fitness, worked for an amazing company, adventured, relaxed & refreshed.  Although the end of this summer is bittersweet, I am ready for a fresh start, new apartment (and roommate who is truly the most generous person on the planet) and new semester.  This year is my 3rd year of Ryerson Universities Fashion Communication program.  I can’t wait to see what crazy material this year holds!

This outfit is what I would consider as a perfect back to school look! I paired an unexpected combo together—a dress & some funky denim from Free People.  (Ironically I actually wore this dress on my first day back to school last year.)  I love the neutral palette with a bright lip.  What does your perfect back to school look consist of?

Backyard

As the Fall season quickly approaches, I am taking as much spare time as possible to enjoy the last of the warm summer sunshine.  I am very fortunate that this summer I was able to spend much of my time outdoors in my very own backyard.  With lots of green space and a small body of water behind the house, what more gorgeous scenery could I ask for? Yesterday I enjoyed my backyard in one of my favourite summer pieces.  This white maxi with delicate detailing accessorized with a dainty layered necklace, I picked up on my NYC travels.  How are you enjoying the last of the summer days?

Soho Attire

Hey lovelies! So last weekend I decided to take another spontaneous trip, this time to NYC (basically my American home).  I had such a blast visiting my best friend, Jaylene! Though the trip was only a few short days, it was nothing but sweet.  Here's a quick shot from a shopping/dining day in Soho.  I'm loving this dress I picked up in a boutique in Kelowna last month--baseball tee gone comfy pastel dress, ummm yes please!
Also, here are a few snaps from my Insta from the weekend in the city. Enjoy! Happy weekend! xo

Dirty Laundry

Hey lovelies!  We are changing things up today on the blog with a lifestyle post--hope you enjoy!  While I was on a leave from the blog, I took a spontaneous trip to visit one of my best girlfriend's in Kelowna, BC.  Growing up, Kelowna was somewhat of a second home to me as my grandparents lived there.  We often spent a lot of time there during the summer and winter months.  If you've never been, I'd highly recommend visiting.  It's an extremely breathtaking city with a nice relaxed vibe.  There are a lot of great things to do there from water sports to shopping to skiing in the mountains to golfing to some extremely tasty dining.  One of my favourite things to do there is visit the beautiful wineries.  Fortunately, my girlfriend Victoria took me out to the beautiful Dirty Laundry Vineyard in Summerland (a short drive from Kelowna) for some wine tasting and some breathtaking views.  This winery has quite the background story -- an entrepreneur of the early 1900's decided to start up a laundry matt which was also secretly a brothel. That's how the winery got it's name & theme. If you're ever in the area, I would definitely recommend checking out this winery.  With it's corky theme it sets itself out from the others.  Here are a few snaps Victoria and I took while visiting the winery.
Have a fabulous weekend,

A New Leaf

Hey lovelies! Wow, has it been awhile or what?! This summer has been a bit crazy for me.  I have been going through some big personal life changes and unfortunately something had to give, and that something was the blog.  My leave of absence was extended a lot longer then intended.  As much as I'd love to pour my heart out to you all about this roller coaster like summer, I figure it's best to just start this new leaf in my life expressing one of my greatest passions, fashion.  Hope you guys enjoy this look and thank you so much for sticking around and catching up with me on Sare in the City!  I'm so excited to be back!
