Trust the Road Ahead

Over the past few years I've learned various life lessons, many of which were learned in the most difficult ways possible.  Through these difficult times I've learned in life it's important to trust that when the answer is no, there's a better yes down the road--what's meant to be will be.  You've got to trust the road ahead.
You know how I love my neutral colours but, I can't resist a great pop of colour.  I couldn't help but add the perfect pops of hot pink to this casual boho outfit.  I'm especially lusting over these fabulous pink UGG wedges I scooped up early Spring on sale.  They are just the right amount of pretty pink & total chicness.
Note: Please ignore my hideous tan lines via sunning all Canada Day.  I didn't realize how bad they were until I was uploading these images to my computer.  Oops!

I hope this weekend's path leads you to many moments of happiness!

Shades of Lace

When you think Spring layers, you usually think light pastels but somedays there is nothing better then black.  I've been dying to wear this black slip I recently thrifted.  It actually works perfectly under this skirt I picked up awhile back for a whole 10 bucks. I'm feeling very festival-ish in this look, maybe it's a sign of me secretly being extremely jealous of everyone who attended Coachella, this year looked to be perfection, as always.  Have a great rest of your Monday.
Wearing: Boots on sale [Call it Spring], Necklace [Forever 21] & Sunnies [Kate Spade] similar.  Everything else is old or thrifted.

Girl With Heart

Happy Valentines Day!  I hope on this special day you are surrounded by the ones you love.
Traditionally, I'd probably be wearing head to toe pink and red for Valentines, as it's one of my favourite combos.  But this year I decided to try something different--playing up this girly skirt with some pretty accessories.  It definitely says Valentines, but maybe without screaming it.
Wearing: Top [Forever 21], Skirt [Boohoo], Heels [Target], Cuff [Obviously Chic] ℅, Heart from Bicyclette Boutique.

City Chic

There's just something about getting a fabulous deal that totally gives me a rush of excitement!  Last week, I was on the hunt for some coloured denim.  I tried on a bunch of colours (in high waisted of course as anything that sits at my hips is pretty much a lost cause due to my long torso), the lighter colours I was originally eyeing up didn't quite do me justice when I put them on.  When I slipped into these, I was instantly happy with the fit, the comfort, the small ripped detailing and the colour.  And to my surprise, these bad boys were on sale for $15!!!  So obviously I couldn't leave without them.

I decided to pair this fab pair of denim with some classic pieces-- something city chic.  For a girl on the go there's nothing quite like a simple outfit paired with some statement pieces such as this fur collar, statement necklace and bright bag.
Wearing: Denim [Garageon sale, Booties [Nine West] similar, Shirt [Loft], Sweater from The Bay- similar, Hat [Aldo] similar, Necklace [J. Crew] on sale, Bag from Winners, Lipstick [Mac Viva Glam III].

Tulle Perfection

Thanks to BEE, for months now I have been craving a tulle skirt.  I've scoped out many different retailers trying to find the perfect one.  But nothing seemed to fit the bill, until this one. For my birthday, one of my best girl friends Jaycee, who is also an extremely talented clothing designer, gifted me this tulle/lace skirt.  From the neutral palette to the two feminine textures, it was pure tulle perfection.  I can't get enough of it!! I've been holding off to show off this skirt on the blog, until it would start warming up.  But since there is no sign of this polar vortex leaving the East anytime soon, I couldn't wait any longer.  How do you feel about the tulle trend?  Are you into it?
Wearing: Skirt [Jaycee Wall], Sweater [H&M], Shoes [Zara] similar, Necklace [Target] also love this one, Belt vintage.

Snow Day

There is something about fresh snow that makes the city look so magical.  I didn't spend much time in the snow this weekend as Ty and I had a productive weekend working on our place, as you may have seen on Instagram.  We've been living in this place for a few months now, but with our hectic schedules, it took us a while to get to some of our bigger projects.  It's so nice to see our place finally coming together.
On boxing day my mom and I tackled the mall, as we always do, it's sort of our tradition.  We found some GREAT deals including this bow blouse I had been eyeing up previous to boxing day.  I love layering it in these cooler months.

Thanks so much for stopping by & have a fabulous week,

Ask Sare: Dressing a Pear Shaped Body

Hey Lovelies!  Welcome to another Ask Sare.  I am excited to be hearing more questions from you lately.  For this week's Ask Sare, a reader was curious about the best way to disguise a larger bottom on a pear shaped body.
The outfit I styled was inspired by the idea of focusing on the waist, which for a pear shaped body I find most important.  It draws the eyes to the smallest part of your body, instead of the largest.  Whether it's a high waisted skirt/pants (like these photos), a belt detailing at the waist or a fit and flare dress, these are my favourite ways to extenuate the smallest part on a pear shaped body.  Here are some other guidelines for dressing a pear shape: keep bolder patterns for the top, statement necklaces are a great way to draw the attention up from your hips and clean lines are always best for bottoms.
[Drawing attention to the waist with the fitted dark waistband.]
[Statement necklaces & ruffles near the face are a great way to draw the eye up.]

Wearing: Coat [Banana Republic] similar, Shirt gifted, Necklace [J. Crew], Skirt [Phillip Lim x Target], Watch [Kate Spade], Shoes [Zara], Bag [Kate Spade] similar.

Have a fabulous weekend & keep sending me those questions!

Dreamy Gems

Hey lovelies!!  So even though it's Fall, I've been wearing a lot of light colours lately.  Even though pastels are big for Fall this year, somehow it just seems so funny to me that I'm totally into this colour palette at this time of year. Another thing I'm totally into is this statement necklace I recently picked up at Aldo; I love the all its glitz.
Speaking of Fall, it's already getting so chilly, its got me thinking of winter.  I'm already buying my winter gear.  I'm super excited about my new UGG winter boots that are waterproof, warm and cute--can't wait to show you!  They were actually an early birthday gift from my mom, so thank you mom, can't wait to have cozy feet when the snow hits!  What type of purchases will you be making this year to prepare yourself for the winter season?

Wearing: Necklace recent from Aldo, Sweater old, Button Up, Jeans, Boots similar, Coat old, Sunnies similar.

Tres Chic & Tres Hot!!

After finally finding this gem of a sweater, I couldn't wait to wear it!  No seriously, I couldn't.  Despite the HOT temps we've been having lately, I decided to rock my Tres Chic sweater.  It wasn't one of my best ideas to wear this bad boy on such a hot day so I'll probably be holding off on wearing it again until it's actually Fall, which might be difficult since it's totally a new fav.  Everyones been talking about transitioning into Fall lately but it's so hard to imagine when the weather is just so so so hot!

This weekend I'm off to Saskatchewan to spend some time with family and friends.  I haven't been home since May so I'm sure I'll have a lot of catching up to do.  I'm also very anxious for all the Labour Day festivities that will be going on back home this weekend...GO RIDERS!!  What are you up to this weekend?
Wearing: Pants old [Le Chateau] but love these, Sweater [Forever 21], Heels [Jessica Simpson] similar and also love these, Watch [Nixon], Sparkly Bangle similar [Michael Kors], Bangle [J. Crew], Bracelet similar [J. Crew].
