Tuesday Tunes

Matisyahu - Sunshine

Something you may not know about me is I'm also a very musical person.  I was born and raised in somewhat of a "musical family".  At a young age my parents {who are also musically inclined-my mom is a talented pianist and my dad played bass guitar} encouraged music to my brother and I.  As a baby I loved Disney singalongs.  My brother and I both started piano lessons early and played into our high school years.  I later sang in choirs, played guitar, piccolo and flute.  So as you may have guessed I almost always have the tunes going.  Matisyahu's 'Sunshine' is one of my favorite of the minute songs!  I love the summery vibe you get from it. It's a catchy one though so be prepared to find the words stuck in your head.  Have a great Tuesday!

Change is Good!

Hello fellow fashion lovers! Welcome back to Sare in the City.  As you may have noticed, I made a few changes to the blog.  Feel free to do some roaming around and check out whats new.  I'm proud to say that I made all the changes on my own with some helpful tips from internet tutorials and a computer-savy friend {thanks Brandon}.  Let me know what you think!

Here's an outfit I wore Friday to work.  The weather had cooled down in the week so I thought why not wear pants.  After complaining on my last post about the fact that summer was slipping by way to quickly, I decided to just suck it up and start to enjoy the fact fall was on it's way.  Change is good, right?  Little did I know the temp was going to scorch in the high 20's.  Though that may not sound very hot...when your on the prairies, with no wind and hot dry air...it's HOT! Practical in pants? I think not.  Good thing I work in an air conditioned building.  Enjoy the pics of my summer-transition-into-fall outfit...hopefully you don't see me sweating...A LOT!

OH and may I add a "HOLY SMOKES" as I am moving to T.O. 4 weeks from today! I am filled with SO many emotions that I'm sure will only escalate from here on out.

Summer Layers

Yesterday was one of those weird summer days where the weather couldn't make up it's mind.  It was hot and sunny one minute and rainy, windy and cold the next.  This was the perfect outfit for that kind of day.  Layers are always great for days when the weather is unsure.  These were great light layers but before I know it I'm sure I'll be wearing thicker layers as we progress into (need I say it) fall! I can't believe summer is almost at an end...August is only days away.  Where has this summer gone?

An Outfit With a Story

My friend Jaycee just moved to Regina so I decided to give her a bit of a tour. I took her to a fav ice cream spot, Milky Way. YUM!!!  After ice cream we ended up downtown for some photos.  And since I started to realize SO many of my photos lately were taken with a park or field in the background making it seem like maybe I live in the middle of nowhere, I thought this was the perfect place.  Regina is a city, it's actually the capital of Saskatchewan.  So here I am, in downtown Regina! Buildings and construction creating somewhat of a concrete jungle.

OK, so here is the rundown on this outfit: For our ice cream adventure I wore a maxi I found when vacationing in Mexico years ago, the first one I ever bought.  It has to be my favorite maxi.  I topped it with Jaycee's vest (which she converted from a dress to a vest, how cool).  I am also totally in the mood for stacking bracelets. Here I'm wearing one of my new favs, the love bracelet.  What a great find!  This green backpack is SO special to me.  I couldn't find it for the longest time until this weekend.  Years ago when my dad was visiting Korea he bought my mom and I leather bags.  Mine was this backpack and my moms was a small brown handbag.  At the time they probably weren't one of our favorite pieces.  We both put them away for safe keeping.  Now I LOVE the bag.  Needless to say, this whole outfit has a story...different pieces from around the world to create one great look!  Do you have pieces you collaborate from around the world into one great look?

Floral Burst

I have been dying to wear this skirt for ages but I could never really find the right top to go with it.  It's such a bold piece I didn't want anything to take away from it.  This skirt is so special to me because it was designed by  one very talented lady out of Lethbridge, Alberta, Shelly.  She is also a fellow blogger at Schizo Style.  Shelly was also such an inspiration to me in the years I spent at fashion school in Lethbridge.  I paired this skirt with a Niki Biki top from the cutest local boutique, Nico.  I usually don't buy something in doubles but I couldn't get enough of this top so I also had to have it in black.  These tops really do go with everything and are ultra comfy.

Happy Monday!

Hot Hot Heat

Here in Saskatchewan we've pretty much had every type of weather this summer.  This particular day it was SO hot it was as though I walked outside into the humidity and was instantly sweating.  So what better day to wear a light little sundress?  I kept cool in this attire though the wedges didn't last long as my feet were so hot!  What's your favourite thing to wear in the hot hot heat?

In other news...Ty and I have set a moving date!  I can't believe it!! The whole "living the big city dream" is starting to come together.  It's all so exciting...and a little stressful or maybe a lot stressful.  But it's just the beginning.  And it'll all be worth it in the long run. Wish me luck on this month of planning, organizing and moving. Hopefully I haven't pulled all my hair out before the big move.  Eeeek!

Currently Craving - Structured Bag

I am currently craving this beautiful structured bag! I have been looking for one everywhere.  When I first laid eyes on this version by Mango, I was in lust.  What is the bag not good for? I can't name a thing -day to night, school to a dinner out, it works for it all.  Only problem is which colour is more versatile, grey or black?  What do you think?

Game Day Wear

On the weekend I had the privilege to attend a Rider football game.  {Us Sask-ies are pretty into our SK Roughriders.}  I had such a blast cheering on the team and spending time with friends.  One tradition I have is I always wear green and white to the game {our team colours}.  But not always am I in the mood to just throw on a jersey and call it a day.  Here I dressed up my "Rider Pride" in comfy yet cute attire in our team colours.  What do you like to wear to sporting events?
{I am currently loving these sunglasses, they are so posh!}

Creamsicle

Late last week I had the privilege to work with a very talented photographer, Troy Fleece.  He not only shot a few great shots {which are soon to come to the blog} but also provided me with some great tips on photography.  Here are some pics Tia Zelinski took 'behind the scenes' of my creamsicle coloured outfit. {Now you are craving the popsicle/ice cream goodness, aren't you?}

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Thanks for stopping by,

Lovely Leopard

Oh look, I'm wearing leopard...again! It has recently become apparent to me just how many clothes and pairs of shoes I have in leopard print.  It's just such a great print and because it's generally made in a neutral colour it goes with everything, right?  With this outfit being pretty neutral, I decided to spruce things up with a fun orange bag and the cutest turquoise earrings from NICO, the most lovely little boutique right here in Regina.  Do you have a favorite print you find yourself wearing over and over?

A special thanks to Tia Zelinski for the photo takin'

Sunny Morning

This past weekend I was very busy, but one sunny morning when I had a little spare time I decided to have a little fun.  Ty and I took our family dogs for a walk around the park and enjoyed brunch outside.  It was a nice break from all the busyness.  Here is what I wore on the beautiful sunny morning.

Hope you all had a great weekend,
