Backyard

As the Fall season quickly approaches, I am taking as much spare time as possible to enjoy the last of the warm summer sunshine.  I am very fortunate that this summer I was able to spend much of my time outdoors in my very own backyard.  With lots of green space and a small body of water behind the house, what more gorgeous scenery could I ask for? Yesterday I enjoyed my backyard in one of my favourite summer pieces.  This white maxi with delicate detailing accessorized with a dainty layered necklace, I picked up on my NYC travels.  How are you enjoying the last of the summer days?

Trust the Road Ahead

Over the past few years I've learned various life lessons, many of which were learned in the most difficult ways possible.  Through these difficult times I've learned in life it's important to trust that when the answer is no, there's a better yes down the road--what's meant to be will be.  You've got to trust the road ahead.
You know how I love my neutral colours but, I can't resist a great pop of colour.  I couldn't help but add the perfect pops of hot pink to this casual boho outfit.  I'm especially lusting over these fabulous pink UGG wedges I scooped up early Spring on sale.  They are just the right amount of pretty pink & total chicness.
Note: Please ignore my hideous tan lines via sunning all Canada Day.  I didn't realize how bad they were until I was uploading these images to my computer.  Oops!
Wearing: Vest from Macy's, Wedges [UGG]--similar here, Top [American Eagle Outfitters], Jeans old but similar here, Free Spirit Bracelet from Anex, Lip Colour [MAC], Necklace [Forever 21].

I hope this weekend's path leads you to many moments of happiness!

Mermaid Style Inspiration

As I scroll through my Pinterest feed, there is no doubt I am inspired by the ton of mermaid type style inspiration.  So with a little inspiration and my own spin on things I bring to you my take on mermaid style.  As much as it would've been fun to make this a totally whimsical outfit, I decided to keep things on more of a practical side by toning down the brights of the water-like romper and pastels of the mani/rings/dip dyed hair with some bold black accessories.  I'm totally lusting over these black gladiator sandals.  They have sure been a topic of conversation in my life.  I can't go out in public wearing them without getting a lot of looks & receiving many comments--my favourite so far being "So how long does it take you to put those on in the morning?"  I would love to see your take on the mermaid trend--be sure to tag me on FB, Twitter and/or Instagram

Shades of Lace

When you think Spring layers, you usually think light pastels but somedays there is nothing better then black.  I've been dying to wear this black slip I recently thrifted.  It actually works perfectly under this skirt I picked up awhile back for a whole 10 bucks. I'm feeling very festival-ish in this look, maybe it's a sign of me secretly being extremely jealous of everyone who attended Coachella, this year looked to be perfection, as always.  Have a great rest of your Monday.
Wearing: Boots on sale [Call it Spring], Necklace [Forever 21] & Sunnies [Kate Spade] similar.  Everything else is old or thrifted.

Uniform

Lately, I've been repeating a few pieces in my wardrobe, conforming to some kind of "uniform".  These pieces consisting of jeans, a pink cardigan and these layered jewels.  Obviously, with my favourite colour being pink, throwing on this pop of colour automatically puts me in a good mood. And as for the jewels, I love how the contrasting materials work together to give off a totally pretty feminine vibe.
I'm SUPER excited to have my mom come visit this week!  She hasn't come out to visit me in quite some time so we have a lot of Toronto exploring/shopping to do!

Ask Sare: Dressing a Pear Shaped Body

Hey Lovelies!  Welcome to another Ask Sare.  I am excited to be hearing more questions from you lately.  For this week's Ask Sare, a reader was curious about the best way to disguise a larger bottom on a pear shaped body.
The outfit I styled was inspired by the idea of focusing on the waist, which for a pear shaped body I find most important.  It draws the eyes to the smallest part of your body, instead of the largest.  Whether it's a high waisted skirt/pants (like these photos), a belt detailing at the waist or a fit and flare dress, these are my favourite ways to extenuate the smallest part on a pear shaped body.  Here are some other guidelines for dressing a pear shape: keep bolder patterns for the top, statement necklaces are a great way to draw the attention up from your hips and clean lines are always best for bottoms.
[Drawing attention to the waist with the fitted dark waistband.]
[Statement necklaces & ruffles near the face are a great way to draw the eye up.]

Wearing: Coat [Banana Republic] similar, Shirt gifted, Necklace [J. Crew], Skirt [Phillip Lim x Target], Watch [Kate Spade], Shoes [Zara], Bag [Kate Spade] similar.

Have a fabulous weekend & keep sending me those questions!
